Hello everyone,
Sorry for my absence. I am now in classes and dealing with the challenges of being an international student. I will tell more later.
Yesterday Sam and I visited Dr. Bonsu, who is in charge of the Ghana Genealogy Project for the Latter Day Saints Church in Accra, Africa. This is an awesome project as it relates to African Americans. His group is going out to the villages and interviewing village seniors to compile the family histories. This project along with the DNA project going on will assist African Americans to make the connection with their African roots which has been almost impossible. I will tell more about this later.
Tomorrow, Sunday, we will attend the wedding of his daughter. She is marrying a famous Ghanaian singer. I will have pictures and his name later tomorrow or Monday. I have to say here that Dr. Bonsu is the 4th great-grandson of an Ashante king: Osei Bonsu. He was a famous king reigning from 1801-1824. He expanded Ashante land to the coast, thus receiving the name Bonsu, meaning whale. He was very, very famous. So we were in the presence of an actual king descendant!! We had a great time and he took us to lunch and put us in a taxi to return home.
We are excited about attending the wedding and will have pictures and video to show you soon. It will be the first time we will get dressed up (first time for me to wear high heels.) and feel "grown up." LOL
Love yous!!
