Hello everyone;
Not much happening these last two days. I am now officially registered and have received my photo
student ID. Now I am truly a U of G student! :-)
Registration is different here than in the states. You choose your classes and then have to go around to your departments to look on posting boards for your timetable. I have three history classes and one archeology. The archeology was posted (Tuesday 3:30p to 5:30p); but the histories are not. I signed up to notify the professors that I would be in the class and was told the timetable should be up by Friday. Classes start on Monday.
We take classes one day a week for two hours each. In the states you have Monday, Wednesday and Friday classes or a Tuesday and Thursday classes, so this is another difference. I think this will make it easier for me. I hope so. LOL
Also the grading is different. The grade curve is more student friendly. A 3.00 (B) is 55-59. A 4.00 (A) is 70-100. Now that sounds doable; however, is the actually grading stricter? HHmmm. Well, we will see.
Nia, a student from North Carolina, celebrated her 21st birthday yesterday. Happy birthday. Nia!!! The "children" went to the beach to celebrate. We were invited but Granny had to pass. I woke up at 3am and they did not leave campus until 10pm. I knew that I would be ready for sleep by 11 at the latest. LOL Haven't heard from anyone yet, so I am expecting they had a good time and no problems. One of the student guides accompanied them, so they were not on their own.
Today is a ride on the Tro-Tro, the local bus service, to the military district and to Madina Market. This is a large outdoor market where you can buy just about anything. Some of the first pictures I posted were from there. I have been eager to get back there. I bought crabs there and have been pining for more since. I will stock up today. They are the only things I really like so far. They are so small one will fit in my hand; but oh do they taste good!! Lots of work though. :-)
Tomorrow will be the trip I have been waiting for. A trip to Cape Coast Castle, where the "Door of No Return" is located and a hike in Kakura Park . We will spend the night there and return on Saturday. I will have plenty of pictures to share.
Love you all.
C and S
